Information about the North Devon and South West region:
Braunton Engineering are an independent Porsche specialist for the South West of England with customers from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and further afield. Based near the golden sands holiday resorts of Croyde Bay, Woolacombe, Saunton, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, Instow, Appledore and Westward Ho! Braunton Engineering see a number of cars from further afield with customers bringing their Porsche & sports cars down when on holiday, visiting relatives or staying at second homes.
Braunton Engineering is based at Braunton Garage in the heart of Braunton village. Braunton village lies approximately five miles north of Barnstaple (the ‘capital’ of North Devon) on the road between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe. Barnstaple is about one hour fifteen minutes drive from either Exeter or Taunton, and about forty five minutes drive from Junction 27 of the M5 motorway.
The South West region has changed dramatically in the last twenty five years. Most noticeable to North Devon was the introduction of the new North Devon Link road , the A361, which opened in 1988, (the A361 is the longest three digit A road in the UK at 195 miles!) and immediately provided swifter access to North Devon. The other significant change to the South West has been the internet which has played an incredible part in assisting migration to the region. Websites such as rightmove and find a property and prime locationallowed users based in the South, South East, and the Midlands to spot well priced properties for migration, as second homes or buy to let opportunities.
The result of the easier access and migration to the South West, to Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset is the region now has a larger population. A population who appear to be better off financially. Seeing a Porsche or top marque sports car such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Lotus, TVR was a very rare occurance fifteen years ago but today these cars can be seen on a daily basis in Devon and throughout the South West.
